History of REFLECTLENS
What began in a small workshop in Poland is today a European brand inspiring photographers worldwide.1989 - Where It All Began
1997 - Some Stories Pause
2023 - Same Soul, New Vision
Two Generations - One Passion
In 1989, at the golden age of analog photography, Tomasz Kłosiński founded POL-FILTR in Skierniewice. He traded carefully sourced lenses and cameras, but his true passion was designing his own special effect filters - tools that allowed photographers to create images impossible to achieve by any other means. They quickly gained recognition at the Warsaw Stodoła photography market, the largest in Eastern Europe.
After nearly a decade, Tomasz suspended the filter project and focused on the more stable business of trading equipment. The technical drawings were stored away in the family archive - resting there for years, with Tomasz never imagining anyone would ever use them again.
Decades passed. His son Łukasz, a professional photographer, began to feel the weight of creative burnout. Searching for a way forward, he turned to his father - and Tomasz pointed him to the dusty archive. Together with his partner Kesja, Łukasz decided to give these designs a new life. REFLECTLENS was born.
The online store grew faster than anyone expected. Within a year, the filters reached top photographers across Europe, and the company opened its own showroom. It's a return to a time when photographic equipment was made by people, for people - and every frame had a soul.
GLASS, CHOSEN BY HAND - NOT MACHINE
WHERE GLASS BECOMES A FILTER
THE LAST SPIN BEFORE IT'S DONE
CRAFTED WITH PURPOSE
Long before a REFLECTLENS filter reaches a photographer's camera, it begins with a decision most people will never notice - selecting the right optical glass.
Not every piece of glass is capable of producing the precise reflections, ghosting, diffusion, or light transmission we demand. Each optical element is carefully chosen for its purity, consistency, and optical properties before it ever enters production. The glass is then individually measured, cut, and hand-finished through a meticulous process where precision is measured in fractions of a millimeter.
Creating a creative filter isn't simply about manufacturing a piece of glass. Every surface, every angle, and every microscopic detail influences the way light bends inside the lens. A difference invisible to the naked eye can completely transform the final image. That's why every production stage is carried out with exceptional care, combining modern optical engineering with the craftsmanship that defined photographic equipment decades ago.
Once the optical element has achieved its intended characteristics, it is assembled into its frame and undergoes multiple quality inspections. Every filter is individually checked for optical accuracy, coating quality, alignment, and finish before it is approved to leave our workshop.
We don't believe creative tools should be mass-produced commodities.
We believe they should be crafted with patience, precision, and respect for the photographers who trust them to create their most important work.
Every REFLECTLENS filter carries that philosophy - from the first piece of hand-selected optical glass to the moment it captures light somewhere else in the world.
