Filters reach Eastern Europe

With the growing availability of cameras and lenses produced in the USSR, Tomasz expanded his offer. Eastern-made equipment began to dominate market trade, yet it was his original filter designs that drew the eyes of the most demanding clients. Photographers across Eastern Europe valued both their craftsmanship and the unique visual effects they delivered – effects impossible to recreate in post-production. As a result, POL-FILTR filters became increasingly recognized beyond Poland’s borders.

Scaling down operations

An end to the filter chapter

After nearly a decade of selling cameras, lenses, and filters, Tomasz decided to scale down his operations and suspend the POL-FILTR filter project entirely. From then on, he focused exclusively on trading cameras and lenses, which provided a more stable source of income. The technical drawings and designs were stored away in the family archive, waiting for their moment to see the light of day again – though Tomasz never imagined anyone would ever use them again.

A new beginning

From burnout to renewed passion

After years of working as a photographer, Lukasz began to feel the weight of creative burnout. The shoots that once brought joy had become routine, and his creative energy was fading. Searching for a way to reignite his passion, he turned to his father for advice. It was Tomasz who suggested he revisit the old filter projects and technical drawings that had been resting in the family archive for decades.

Together with his partner Kesja, Lukasz decided to give these designs a new life. This was the birth of REFLECTLENS – a brand that blends the warmth of family heritage with a modern vision of photography. Each REFLECTLENS filter is created for image-makers who – just like Tomasz once did – seek tools that capture not only the image but also the emotion. It’s a return to a time when photographic equipment was made by people, for people, and every frame had a soul.

The company grew quickly – new team members joined, and operations soon outgrew the original 10-square-meter room. REFLECTLENS moved into a larger space and opened a showroom, where photographers could test the filters in person and see their magic firsthand.
